Built on Kickflip

A bike configurator on your Shopify store

Customers choose the frame, finish, groupset and wheels, and watch their bike change with each choice. Each option goes into the Shopify order at its own price.

Build a bike, part by part

Pick a frame, a finish, a groupset, wheels and a cockpit. Two parts don’t fit every frame. Pick one and you see why, as your customers would on your store.

Try the gravel frame: it takes the 45 mm wheels, not the 2x groupset.

This demo runs on this page. The configurators we build run on Kickflip, inside the brand’s Shopify store. No Shopify store yet? See Shopify stores

Wheels, cranksets and parts can have one too

Any product a rider chooses option by option can have a configurator. The rules and the photo layers work the same way as for a complete bike.

Our titanium brandcykl.store

Running on cykl.store since March 2026

CYKL is the titanium bike brand of the MAAKE group, and our in-house demonstrator. We built its configurator on Kickflip, inside its Shopify store, before offering the same work to other brands.

The bike comes together option by option, and the render and price follow. Recorded on the French version of cykl.store.
The email that follows up an abandoned configuration, in French.
Part by part
Size, frame anodising, fork, groupset, cranks. The render and the price change with each choice.
Photo layers
One layer per frame, fork and finish, prepared in Photoshop and stacked by Kickflip.
In the cart
The finished build goes into CYKL’s Shopify cart with one button, like any other product.
Follow-up
If a customer leaves without ordering, an automatic email asks whether their build is ready.

From your option list to orders

Three steps. The last one comes back each time you launch a part or a colour.

  1. First

    The logic

We list your options with you: frames, sizes, finishes, groupsets, wheels. Then the rules between them, and the lead time of each part. You approve the list before anything is shot.

  2. Then

    The photo layers

We shoot your frames, forks and finishes in our photo studio in Montpellier, one layer per part, all at the same angle, and prepare them in Photoshop.

  3. At launch, then each new part

    In your store

We set up Kickflip in your Shopify store and connect it to the cart and orders. As an add-on, an automatic email follows up anyone who leaves a build unfinished. New parts and finishes go in as you launch them.

The order arrives with every part on it

Without a configurator, a custom build starts with an email, then a back-and-forth on sizes, finishes and lead times. With one, the customer has chosen each part by the time the order reaches you.

Each choice is a line
Frameset, groupset, wheels, cockpit, engraving. Every option the customer picks reaches your Shopify order as its own line, with its lead time.
The upgrade is on screen
Customers see the deeper wheels or the anodised frame on their own build before they add them.
Stock follows the build
Each part of the chosen build comes off your Shopify stock, from the wheelset to the bar tape. A cancelled order puts them back.
Quotes start from a build
A customer who still wants to talk before paying starts the conversation from a bike they have already chosen.

A bike sold on a quote brings in ≈ €6,000 on average.

On CYKL, our titanium brand. Some customers compare several builds in the configurator before they ask for a quote. Try the CYKL configurator

MAAKE FactoryThe group’s factory assembles and paints bikes for outside brands. A bike chosen in your configurator, custom paint included, can be built there. Visit maakefactory.com

Questions about configurators

Don’t see your question? Ask us on the call.

Book a callSee all questions
  • Yes. Kickflip runs inside a Shopify store, and the configured bike goes into the Shopify cart. If you sell on another platform today, we can move your store to Shopify first.

  • Kickflip already handles the options, the rules, the photo layers and the link to the Shopify cart. A custom build means paying to rebuild all of that, then to maintain it. We built CYKL’s configurator on Kickflip, and we suggest custom code only for a need Kickflip can’t cover.

  • You do, directly to Kickflip. The subscription and the configurator stay in your name, like your Shopify store.

  • Yes. You send us a frame, a fork and each finish you sell, we shoot them in our studio in Montpellier and send them back.

  • We check it on the call. Trade prices on Shopify depend on your plan and on how your dealers order today, and we won’t promise a setup before we have seen yours.
